What Is a Fitness-for-Duty Evaluation?
A Fitness-for-Duty (FFD) evaluation is an independent medical assessment that determines whether an employee can safely and effectively perform the essential functions of a specific job.
FFD evaluations are conducted by a physician who has no prior treatment relationship with the employee, ensuring the opinion remains objective, evidence-based, and defensible.
The purpose of the evaluation is not to provide treatment, but to answer specific employer questions regarding:
