Evaluations are personally conducted by Dr. Babatunde Onamusi, MD, MPH, a board-certified Occupational & Environmental Medicine physician with more than 25 years of experience assessing work capacity, functional limitations, return-to-work readiness, and workplace safety concerns.

What Is a Fitness-for-Duty Evaluation?

A Fitness-for-Duty (FFD) evaluation is an independent medical assessment that determines whether an employee can safely and effectively perform the essential functions of a specific job.

FFD evaluations are conducted by a physician who has no prior treatment relationship with the employee, ensuring the opinion remains objective, evidence-based, and defensible.

The purpose of the evaluation is not to provide treatment, but to answer specific employer questions regarding:

An employer may appropriately request an FFD evaluation when there is a legitimate concern regarding an employee’s ability to safely perform essential job functions.
